I don’t have any cavities, so should I get the recommended dental sealants treatment?
Absolutely. Sealants are a thin, clear plastic coating that apply to the deepest grooves of the teeth. The main purpose of sealant application is cavity prevention. Sealants are extremely effective at preventing decay, and are totally non-invasive. Our clinic normally recommends applying dental sealants to the posterior teeth, starting when the first permanent molar erupts. Our team strongly believes that it is worthwhile to get the sealants instead of the dental fillings, where you have to get anesthetized.
How is sealant done at your office?
The application of sealants is an easy process. We apply a chemical etchant to roughen up the grooves, and then air dry. A thin layer of sealant flowable material is adapted to the grooves. A dental light is then used to harden the sealant so that it stays permanently. Within about 1-2 minutes, and you are all set to go!
